Romeo and Juliet was a production I mounted with Student Theatre at Glasgow whilst studying at the University of Glasgow in 2007.

The production presented a radically edited version of Shakespeare’s text, stripping back references to time and place and focusing on the personal drama and interplay between the characters.

The mise-en-scene reflected this focus, with the objective of making Shakespeare’s story and poetry the centrepeice of the work, which also re-imagined the story’s fights as exuberant sequences of contemporary dance, choreographed by NSCD graduate Zosia Dowmunt.
